When I was at Syracuse Law for my 1L in 2010, I took Indian Law as my elective and I wrote about how I believed the Iroquois Nation should work towards cannabis legalization for tax benefits. I believed in this markets potential and given the prior tax structures that led to selling cigarettes on reservation lands and having casinos, I just felt in my bones this was a pathway that would make sense for the industry and the community. I probably wrote poorly, because it didn’t win over my professor and it earned me a solid C, but I am pleased to see these actions happening more and more across the country.

This product can have enormous economic benefits to communities and I am glad to see it entering NC this way.
